Hey,
Hey, Hey - Champions Cup is Underway
Round 1 Results and Musings ('Twas the First Night!!)
April 30, 2006
By Jason Gilkey
'Twas the first night of the league, and balls flew over the nets, and a few screams were heard, thanks to Ken Large's tourettes. (How's that for a sweet opening rhyme of the league?). A few captains, with their lineups, tried to finagle, but it didn't matter thanks to Decker and Cooley's double-bagel. A few players played so poorly they almost lost control of their bowels, as did all the players that went to J. Alexander's and heard about Chamber's Westside towels. Madrigal and Large were back on the attack, and poor Andy Veal is going to need a new back.
Chambers and Witzgall's returns were large, while Sparta was left asking Chambers how much he would charge. How good can Craig Menzie play, the question begs, while between Fones and Bulow, the team had 2 good legs. Jurassic Park Minus One looks like the team that is the real deal, and Mr. Beckham looks like the player who will be this year's steal. Buchi and Cook's shots were whizzing as they flew, but can you believe in the
third tie-break they were down 7-2?
All the old guys may have to get used to getting pounded, unless all the juniors act up and hopefully get grounded. The team of Big
Ballerz is looking mighty fine, and how about that win by Blair and Stewart, third set, 11-9? As the night wound down, and the last ball was in play, did you see the unbelievable tennis, played by Houston and Trey? As everyone started to leave, and the courts were shut down for the night, you could still hear a scream from last year faintly echoing, "I hate the @$&#ing lights!"
Okay, so I got a little bit inspired from your results from last night. Don't expect it again this year. Here are your results.
