Champions Cup - Round 3 (Rained Out - Completed June 1)
Results and Musings
June 6, 2006
By Jason Gilkey
Well, no baby yet, and my wife is about to pop. Speaking of pop, how about someone popping every member of Randy Howell's team (maybe not Danny Birchmore)? I know having 8 people play each week is tough, but only having 4 guys each week? Cest'la'vie (with my apologies to everyone who actually know how to correctly spell that word).

At the halfway point of the season, here are my
10 THINGS I THINK I KNOW

1. It only took 5 weeks for Big Ballers to finally lose a dual, and they finally got Johnny Lu in the lineup. Prediction: they only lose 1 more dual until the tournament, but then some team will sneak up and bite them in the butt.

2. Can anyone stop Ian Chadwell, Ryan Lipman, or the weak Houston Barrick? Well, Fones is certain he would get a game from Houston, but that doesn't count.

3. You know, I would "Say Hello to my Little Friend" if he'd FREAKING SHOW UP. Well, at least Waldo was here Thursday- of course, the rest of his team wasn't. The "Say Hello" team has officially set the record for most defaults, and we've only played 5 weeks. Over/under for year total: 20.

4. Madrigal's record over the last 2 years versus anyone over 18: 20-0. Under 18: 0-2. Prediction: by end of year, Under 18 will be 1-3. Lipman- better get ready.

5. I'm so glad Dan Bowers got in the league- I'm a little sad that he had to replace Crouch- a little. Kidding. Kind of.

6. Gilkey is almost leading the league with a singles win-loss record of 3-0. Hopefully nobody noticed that he has only played 1 match- rest are defaults. Prediction: Gilkey goes 0-5 rest of the way.

7. We will probably have to have a rule in place for the tournament regarding defaulting both singles. We have allowed it so that doubles teams get chance to play, but I have a feeling that certain teams may intentionally do it to load up the doubles when they are outgunned in singles. In every way I am inferring that Randy would think of doing this.

8. Watch out- All-In is sneaking up the standings. Prediction- may get the #2 seed in the tourny.

9. Watch out #2- Ken Large is actually practicing. "Practice? We're talking practice?" (obscure Allan Iverson quote). Pretty soon he'll be working out with Charlie 2 times a day.

10. Midseason MVP candidates: Ryan Lipman, Houston Barrick, Ian Chadwell (see a pattern here?), Scott Fielding, Trey Brunsting, Kearney Gay, Randy Howell- hee hee.
